What is a Raw Food Diet?
Perhaps it's something you've heard about but haven't really put a lot of thought into. Or maybe you have already jumped on that gravy train and are already well on your way to Raw Food Health-Stardom! So let me give a brief intro into some elements of Raw Food Diets and why you would want to incorporate Raw Food into your nutrition.
Would I Be Eating Raw Broccoli? lol
You of course COULD! But, raw foodies I have come across don't generally get into raw vege eating. Raw foodies drink lots of homemade fresh green juices and fruits, they are big on unprocessed raw foods which are often quite ancient in Origins, many of them raving about the amazingly high vitamin and mineral content of things like Raw Cacao Powder, Lucuma, Chia Seeds, Hemp Seeds, eating Kale over Lettuce and growing Organic Gardens full of goodies that won't be full of harmful pesticides and lacking vitamin and mineral content from the long journey to their doors!
It all sounds pretty good to me! So let's take a closer look at some of the Raw Food Blogs around, pick up some interesting facts along the way, and enjoy some of their recipes!!!

The Paleolithic Eating (Paleo Diet)
"The Paleo Diet is based upon eating wholesome, contemporary foods from the food groups our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have thrived on during the Paleolithic era, the time period from about 2.6 million years ago to the beginning of the agricultural revolution, about 10,000 years ago. These foods include fresh meats (preferably grass-produced or free-ranging beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and game meat, if you can get it), fish, seafood, fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and healthful oils (olive, coconut, avocado, macadamia, walnut and flaxseed). Dairy products, cereal grains, legumes, refined sugars and processed foods were not part of our ancestral menu."

Fruitarianism
For most of my life, I have been crazy in love with fruits. One day I found out that there was actually a diet, which called for fruit eating only... and I was impressed. Way to represent, peeps! :)
So, what is the definition of a Fruitarian?
"Fruitarianism involves the practice of following a diet that includes fruits, nuts and seeds, without animal products, vegetables and grains.[1] Fruitarianism is a subset of dietary veganism. Fruitarianism may be adopted for different reasons, including: ethical, health, religious, political, environmental, cultural, aesthetic and economic. There are many varieties of the diet. Some people whose diet consists of 75% or more fruit consider themselves fruitarians." Read More: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruitarianism
Steve Jobs, co-founder of APPLE - he was a fruitarian. (Does it CLICK now? hehe.) Ghandi was too. And a whole menagerie of other individuals have attempted fruiatrianism. Many high performance athletes enjoy a fruitarian diet, claiming it is responsible for enhancing their performances. There are health drawbacks however. Didn't Steve Jobs die of pancreatic cancer? Well yes. And didn't Ashton Kutcher's pancreas want to kill him after he went on Steve Jobs' Fruitarian diet? Yes that's true too. Ghandi was taken off the diet finally by his Doctor after suffering pleurisy (I can't imagine how that is related in particular but there you go.)
So if you think a fruity life is for you, and you can know no other than fruits, seeds and nuts - check it out. I would say you could add a whole lot of fruit and not force yourself to be pigeon holed by anyone else - if you feel like steak. Eat a steak. But, this might be for you - so check out some more about it on the World Wide Web. Maybe you want to try it short term. That would be a great introduction. Here's a pretty great site to give you more fruity food for thought:

But as with all things, I say go do your own research, think and carefully consider the information and see what feels right for you and your body.
